Long-Term Leaching Effects on CaO-Modified Iron Silicate Slag

Granulated iron silicate slag, a by-product of pyrometallurgical copper extraction, has excellent properties for construction applications. Slag modification with CaO enhances the application regarding pozzolanic reactivity, potentially extending slag use in future. The slags’ short-term leaching behavior already been investigated promising results, while long-term effects are less studied. Therefore, this study aims to determine on CaO-modified slags. CaO-modifications were conducted during full-scale treatment operation. slags characterized and leached, remaining formation secondary phases. main trace elements was determined over 30 days using dynamic method corresponding an extended time period. tests showed increased (Si, Ca). Zn Cu peak after four leaching, As Sb decreased increasing content samples. After phases formed Cu-containing inclusions sample surfaces.
