Long-Term Effects of Forest Plantation Species on Chemical Soil Properties in Southern Rwanda

چکیده

Understanding the long-term effects of tree species on soil properties is crucial for development forest restoration policies in relation to choice that meet both environmental and local livelihood needs. This study was performed Arboretum Ruhande, Southern Rwanda, where monocultures 148 deciduous 56 conifer have been established 0.25 ha replicated plots from 1933 onwards. We investigated six exotic two native planted monoculture mixed within one self-regenerated plot layers (0–5 cm 5–10 depth). measured general (pH, SOM, exchangeable base cations) water-soluble C N as a proxy functioning. Changes were observed upper layer all species. Planting Eucalyptus caused acidification, whereas cations pH higher under (Entandrophragma excelsum Polyschias fulva) The more pronounced hot water-extractable than other properties. Their analyses could be used detecting changes functioning linked vegetation types.

Effects of Wood Ash Fertilization on Forest Soil Chemical Properties

The effects of wood ash fertilization on soil chemical properties were studied in three young Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) plantations and a Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) plantation with different site fertility in southern Finland. The dose of 3 t ha–1 of loose wood ash was applied to 4 replicate plots (25 × 25 m) at each experiment. Humus layer and mineral soil samples were take...

long-term effects of different irrigation methods with treated wastewater on soil chemical properties

introduction: reuse of wastewater for agricultural irrigation is increasing due to an increased demand for water resources in different parts of the world. almost 70% of deviated water from rivers and pumped groundwater is used for agriculture. if wastewater is used for irrigation in agriculture, then the amount of discharged water from natural sources will be decreased and the flow of wastewat...

Long – Term Tillage and Manure Effect on Soil Physical and Chemical Properties and Carbon and Nitrogen Mineralization Potentials

The objective of this work was to study the effects of tillage and liquid manure applications on some physical and chemical properties as well as on the carbon and nitrogen mineralization potential of a meadow soil. Our results indicated that tillage and manure applications had no effect on the concentration of Cu, Mn, total N and organic C in 0-15 cm layer of soil after 15 years of treatment. ...

Investigation of Geotextile Yarn Effects on Improvement of Long-Term Deformation of Sandy Soil

Accurate predictions of the amount and the rate of long- term deformation of reinforced soils under an applied load are important key issue in geotechnical engineering, in which the deformation of soil develops with time at a state of constant effective stress. Since geosynthetic is generally considered creep sensitive therefore, evaluation of creep behavior of geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS...
