چکیده
BackgroundPercutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is an alternative for stroke prevention in patients with fibrillation (AF) contraindications to oral anticoagulation (OAC). Population level real-world data describing the use and outcomes of LAAO procedures are evolving a paucity longer-term follow-up data. We report on patient characteristics, procedure complications, clinical all undergoing Ontario, Canada.MethodsAll between April 1st 2013 March 31st 2022 were identified. Linked administrative databases utilized determine procedural characteristics. Outcomes interest included complications at 7 30 days rates stroke, bleeding, all-cause re-hospitalization mortality.Results549 individuals study cohort. The average age was 75±8 years, 66% male sex, mean CHA2DS2VASc score 4.4±1.6, 68% not receiving anticoagulation. Follow-up 2.6±2.0 patient-years available. Stroke occurred 2.8% during period (1.1/100 patient-years), bleeding 10% (4.0/100 patient-years) any hospital re-admission 63% (43/100 patient-years). 29% cohort died (11/100 1.8% dying hospitalization. mortality rate unchanged (p trend = 0.72).ConclusionsLong-term low Canada. A Semi-Automated Algorithm for Segmentation of the Left Atrial Appendage Landing Zone: Application in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Procedures
Background: Mechanical occlusion of the Left atrial appendage (LAA) using a purpose-built device has emerged as an effective prophylactic treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation at risk of stroke and a contraindication for anticoagulation. A crucial step in procedural planning is the choice of the device size. This is currently based on the manual analysis of the “Device Landing Zone” fr...
متن کاملLeft Atrial Appendage Occlusion
Left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion is a treatment strategy to prevent blood clot formation in atrial appendage. Although, LAA occlusion usually was done by catheter-based techniques, especially percutaneous trans-luminal mitral commissurotomy (PTMC), it can be done during closed and open mitral valve commissurotomy (CMVC, OMVC) and mitral valve replacement (MVR) too. Nowadays, PTMC is perfor...
متن کاملAdvances in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Strategies.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia worldwide and associated with an elevated risk of thromboembolic stroke and systemic embolization. The evidence suggests that ~90% of thrombi in patients with non-valvular AF are localized to the left atrial appendage (LAA). Therefore, it seems reasonable to consider LAA exclusion in selected patients with AF for stroke prevention. ...
متن کاملPercutaneous interventions in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation: left atrial ablation and left atrial appendage occlusion
Heart rhythm disturbances become of special importance when patients reach a senior age. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia among the old age groups, and its impact on morbidity and mortality becomes of paramount significance. In this population, AF is responsible for significant amount of thromboembolic cerebrovascular events, especially for disabling and fatal strokes. ...
