چکیده

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a rare disease with rising incidence. While surgical resection the only curative option, process often identified in advanced stages, as this malignancy remains clinically silent early development. Only one-third of patients are eligible for at time diagnosis. For who cannot undergo resection, intra-arterial therapies reasonable palliative treatment options; occasions, these may be bridging therapies, well. The premise bland embolization and most chemoembolization that arterial supply tumor occluded to induce necrosis, while radioembolization utilizes flow deliver radiation therapy. In review, we discuss use transarterial embolization, chemoembolization, selective internal therapy ICC. Phase III randomized controlled clinical trials difficult tailor extremely aggressive disease, but ultimately, further investigation should pursued define patient population will derive greatest benefit from each modality.

Locoregional therapies in cholangiocarcinoma

Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare and aggressive malignancy of the biliary tract. Complete surgical resection can be curative, but the majority of patients are diagnosed with advanced disease and usually die within a year of diagnosis. Most deaths are attributable to local disease progression rather than distant metastases, supporting the use of locoregional therapies. There is evidence that locoreg...

Locoregional Therapy for Cholangiocarcinoma

Hepatic resection and transplantation are the only potentially curative options for cholangiocarcinoma.1,2 Unfortunately, only approximately 30% of patients are considered surgical candidates at the time of diagnosis and the overall 5-year survival rates range from 33 to 65%.3 Given the dismal outcomes of systemic chemotherapy, other therapeutic options may have a potential role for patients wi...

Molecular Pathogenesis and Targeted Therapies for Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a molecularly heterogeneous hepatobiliary neoplasm with poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. The incidence of this neoplasm is growing globally. One third of iCCA tumors are amenable to surgical resection, but most cases are diagnosed at advanced stages with chemotherapy as the only established standard of practice. No molecular therapies are...

The role of microRNAs in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary hepatic malignancy with poor prognosis. Despite improvements in its diagnosis and therapy, the prognosis for ICC patients remains poor. An improved understanding of ICC pathogenesis and consequential identification of novel therapeutic targets would improve the prognosis of ICC patients. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of hi...
