Localized Defects in Cold Die-Compacted Metal Powders

چکیده

In powder metallurgy (PM), the compaction step is fundamental to determining final properties of sintered components. The deformation and defectiveness introduced in material during uniaxial die can be correlated activation enhancement dislocation pipe diffusion, a lattice diffusion mechanism sintering process. Its coefficient depends on density. particles are mostly deformed along direction (longitudinal direction) rather than plane; consequently, contact areas perpendicular present higher density dislocations defects. This high intensifies shrinkage compaction. To demonstrate influence cold material’s stress state their contacts were modeled using spheres made pure copper. These compacted at different pressures better analyze system’s response grade consequent behavior sintering. zones sphere, micro-hardness was measured concentration model for indentation size effect (ISE). After compaction, more longitudinal transversal direction. results obtained hardness show differences between undeformed and, case area

Hardness and Densification Behaviour of Copper and Bronze Powders Compacted with Uniaxial Die and Cold Isostatic Pressing Processes

A. Eksi, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Çukurova University, Adana, Turkey, M. K. Kulekci, Faculty of Technical Education, Mersin University, Tarsus, Turkey In this study hardness and densification behaviour of copper and bronze powders under wet bag cold isostatic and uniaxial die pressing processes are examined. In uniaxial pressing the specimens were compacted up to a pressure of 8...

Experimental based finite element simulation of cold isostatic pressing of metal powders

The present work addresses the various ingredients required for reliable finite element simulations of cold isostatic pressing (CIP) of metal powders. A plastic constitutive model for finite deformation is presented and implemented into an explicit finite element (FE) code. The FE implementation is verified so that numerical errors (both temporal and spatial errors) are kept under control. Ther...

Metal-in-metal localized surface plasmon resonance.

Anomalous strong resonances in silver and gold nanoporous thin films which conduct are found to arise from isolated metal nano-islands separated from the surrounding percolating metal network by a thin loop of insulator. This observed resonant optical response is modelled. The observed peak position is in agreement with the observed average dimensions of the silver core and insulator shell. As ...

Cartilage degeneration in the goat knee caused by treating localized cartilage defects with metal implants.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of the current study was to investigate the feasibility of applying defect-size femoral implants for the treatment of localized cartilage defects in a 1-year follow-up model. METHODS In 13 goats, a medial femoral condyle defect was created in both knees. Defects were randomly treated by immediate placement of an oxidized zirconium (OxZr) (n=9) or cobalt-chromium (CoCr) i...
