چکیده

We present a study of two-point spectral turbulence model (Local Wave-Number or LWN model) for the Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) instability. The outcomes are compared with statistical quantities extracted from three-dimensional simulation RT problem. These simulations initialized high wavenumber perturbations at interface heavy fluid placed on top light so that density gradient is in direction opposite to acceleration due gravity. consider flows low medium contrast and compare against data using mix-width evolution as primary metric. original specified physically reasonable but largely \emph{ad hoc} terms account inhomogeneous mechanisms involved growing mixing layer. systematically assess role each equations by comparison simulation. Two these, kinematic source term, introduced maintain finite covariance between specific volume, distortion modifications density-specific-volume covariance, both result severely over-predicting mix layer growth. A simplified eliminating those two shown improve capture well turbulent mass flux velocity profiles across different times. However, this simplification reveals fidelity other metrics such kinetic energy somewhat compromised. implications outcome discussed respect physics problem, we provide guide practical use model.

A Two Pressure Numerical Model of Two Fluid Mixing

We present a numerical model of two fluid mixing based on hyperbolic equations having complete state variables (velocity, pressure, temperature) for each fluid. The model is designed for the study of acceleration driven mixing layers in a chunk mix regime dominated by large scale coherent mixing structures. The numerical solution of the model is validated by comparison to the incompressible lim...

Uniform Local Existence for Inhomogeneous Rotating Fluid Equations

Abstract. We investigate the equations of anisotropic incompressible viscous fluids in R, rotating around an inhomogeneous vector B(t, x1, x2). We prove the global existence of strong solutions in suitable anisotropic Sobolev spaces for small initial data, as well as uniform local existence result with respect to the Rossby number in the same functional spaces under the additional assumption th...

Model for vortex pinning in a two-dimensional inhomogeneous d-wave superconductor

We study a model for the pinning of vortices in a two-dimensional, inhomogeneous, type-II superconductor in its mixed state. The model is based on a Ginzburg-Landau GL free energy functional whose coefficients are determined by the mean-field transition temperature Tc0 and the zero-temperature penetration depth 0 . We find that if i Tc0 and 0 are functions of position and ii 2 0 Tc0 y with y 0,...

Two-wave mixing in sodium vapour

2014 We have observed a unidirectional oscillation in a ring cavity when a sodium atomic vapour interacts with a non resonant pump beam. We have checked that the frequency of the oscillating beam is almost the same as the frequency of the pump beam. We propose a theoretical interpretation of the origin of a two-wave mixing process in an atomic vapour. We show the necessity of a relaxation proce...

Quasi-balanced two-wave mixing interferometer for remote ultrasound detection

We present an improved detection scheme for a two-wave mixing interferometer with a Bi12SiO20 crystal. The proposed detection scheme allows quasi-balanced detection of ultrasonic signals whereby electrical disturbances are suppressed. Quasi-balancing is achieved by changing the polarity of the high voltage at the photorefractive crystal, leading to an inversion of the optical interference signa...
