Local Dental Emergencies and Mitigation Strategies Adopted by Private Dental Practitioners of South India during COVID-19 Shelter in Place Warning - Multi-Centric Online Survey

Objective: To evaluate the common dental emergencies reported to practitioners and compare mitigation strategies implemented during Shelter-In-Place (SIP) warning with practitioners’ age sex. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional online survey among of south India period COVID-19 SIP warning. An initial pool items was prepared capture in managing local emergencies. A structured questionnaire then English based on inputs four expert dentist panel. Age sex were also recorded. Results: The mean 37.11(range: 23 - 63) years.Of 159 that responded survey, 90 male. Most they contacted through phone call (n=140) WhatsApp messaging (n=108). tooth pain (100%), swelling (91.7%), decayed (81.3%), gum (78.6%). higher number male than female had “scheduled treatment immediately” (OR=3.45; P=0.002) after adjusting for age. Conclusion: most pain, swelling, teeth, pain. Males older scheduled appointments immediately.
