چکیده
Gadolinium-doped strontium titanate (Sr1-xGdxTiO3) is a typical perovskite structure material which has been studied due their thermomechanical, termoelectrical and electrochemical properties. In this study, local electronic of Sr1-xGdxTiO3 samples were analyzed through X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements. The results obtained with the adjustment extended fine (EXAFS) spectra at Sr K-edge show that crystallographic model Pm-3m space group consistent around atoms, as expected. This same analysis also reveals an increasing Debye-Waller function Gd content in some shells, associated disorder induced by vacancies to heterovalent incorporation. EXAFS LIII-edge for indicates regular GdO12 dodecahedra without displacement atoms from centrosymmetric position. A was identified shells beyond first 12 O neighbors neither cubic SrTiO3 nor orthorhombic GdTiO3 fits well. near edge (XANES) spectrum Ti LIII,II-edges shows asymmetric peak because splitting between eg orbitals 3d band sample. addition cause enlargement split small Several features XANES are affected increase concentration. According our calculated projected density states, these transitions related reduction number unoccupied 2p - states caused band. Moreover, dependence hybridization 5d4f6s states.

Short-range structure in solid and liquid CuBr probed by multiple-edge x-ray-absorption spectroscopy
X-ray-absorption measurements of solid and liquid CuBr in the T5295– 793 K range of temperature are presented. Accurate short-range structural parameters are extracted using simultaneous Cu and Br K-edge extended x-ray-absorption fine-structure ~EXAFS! refinement in the framework of the multiple-scattering GNXAS method for data analysis. In solid CuBr we find an increasing asymmetry of the firs...
متن کاملX-ray absorption spectroscopy studies of Ba(1-x)Ca(x)TiO3.
We report x-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) of Ca and O K-edges of Ba(1-x)Ca(x)TiO3 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.08, 1) and understand the spectral features related to the electronic structure of these perovskites. The XANES spectra of Ca K-edge possess a pre-edge peak similar to other 3d transition metals like Ti, Ni when present in perovskite structure and provides information about p-type o...
متن کاملElectronic structure of thallium filled skutterudites studied by x-ray absorption and Mössbauer spectroscopy
Thallium L III-edge x-ray absorption and iron-57 and tin-119 Mössbauer spectral measurements have been carried out to probe the electronic structure of the three sites in the filled skutterudite TlxCo42yFeySb12 and TlxCo4Sb122zSnz compounds with a range of x, y, and z values. The thallium L III-edge x-ray absorption spectra are independent of x, y, and z and are well reproduced by full multiple...
متن کاملElectronic structure of CeCo2 thin films studied by X-ray absorption spectroscopy
We present an X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) study at Ce L3-, and Co K-edges of CeCo2 thin films with the thickness varying from 30 to 140 nm. Ce L3-edge spectra exhibit the mixed valence nature and the tetravalent contribution increases with the thickness of CeCo2. The variation in the spectral intensity observed at Co K-edge threshold indicates that there is a change in 3d occup...
متن کاملProbing the local structure of liquid water by X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
It was recently suggested that liquid water primarily comprises hydrogen-bonded rings and chains, as opposed to the traditionally accepted locally tetrahedral structure (Wernet et al. Science 2004, 304, 995). This controversial conclusion was primarily based on comparison between experimental and calculated X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) using computer-generated ice-like 11-molecule clusters. H...
