Loaded 5 Sit-to-Stand Test to Determine the Force–Velocity Relationship in Older Adults: A Validation Study

چکیده

Force–velocity profiling (F-v) evaluates muscle function through the identification of maximum force (F0), velocity (V0), power (Pmax) and optimal (Vopt). The purpose this study was to investigate validity feasibility loaded 5 Sit-to-Stand (5STS) force-velocity compared gold standard instruments (isokinetic Dynamometry, ISO) asses relationship between 5STS-derived indexes with clinical markers mass strength. Forty-six older adults (21 females: 63.8 ± 3.9 yrs) performed 5STS (four different weight conditions) ISO tests (five velocities). Paired t-tests, regression analyses, Bland–Altman analysis were conducted. results showed significant differences in F0, V0, Vopt (p < 0.001) but no difference Pmax = 0.259) tests. Only F0 highly correlated (r 0.71, r 0.84, respectively). a not bias good precision 0.260, 34 W) only for Pmax. Large very large correlations 0.53 0.81) found In conclusion, could be feasible, valid, cost- time-efficient alternative characterization clinically relevant healthy adults.

The Instrumented Sit-to-Stand Test (iSTS) Has Greater Clinical Relevance than the Manually Recorded Sit-to-Stand Test in Older Adults

BACKGROUND The ability to rise from sitting to standing is critical to an individual's quality of life, as it is a prerequisite for functional independence. The purpose of the current study was to examine the hypothesis that test durations as assessed with the instrumented repeated Sit-To-Stand (STS) show stronger associations with health status, functional status and daily physical activity of...

Test-retest reliability of sensor-based sit-to-stand measures in young and older adults.

This study investigated test-retest reliability of sensor-based sit-to-stand (STS) peak power and other STS measures in young and older adults. In addition, test-retest reliability of the sensor method was compared to test-retest reliability of the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT) and Five-Times-Sit-to-Stand Test (FTSST) in older adults. Ten healthy young female adults (20-23 years) and 31 older adu...
