Load Modulated Balanced Amplifier Design Method Based on Complex Impedance Trajectories

چکیده

This paper presents a design methodology for load modulated balanced amplifier (LMBA) focusing on AMPM distortion mitigation. By introducing second harmonic control as degree of freedom, complex trajectory can be selected to compensate nonlinearities in the device without substantially affecting efficiency. A mathematical derivation is accompanied by procedure based closed-form equations fabricate an LMBA solely load-pull data. The theory validated through measured comparison three different designs operating at 2.4 GHz pseudo-RF-input Doherty-like configuration, with class-J, -B, and -J* main PAs. class-J prototype outperforms other 54% 49% drain efficiency peak output power 6-dB back-off, respectively, only 4 degrees AM-PM across this range. When driven 10-MHz, 8.6-dB PAPR LTE signal, 40.5% average achieved better than $-40.5$ dBc ACLR digital predistortion.

i J - PULSED OPERATION OF A HIGH - POWER AMPLIFIER WITH COMPLEX LOAD IMPEDANCE

In several reports issued previously, a theoretical analysis has been given for the steady-state operation of a vacuum-tube power amplifier with a complex load impedance* This theoretical work was checked experimentally with amplifiers operating in the steady state at low power levels. One application of an amplifier which sometimes must operate with a complex load impedance is in naval sonar e...

Balanced AlGaN/GaN-HFET amplifier based on 111-Silicon substrate

In this work a modular low cost RF-amplifier system is presented, based on AlGaN/GaN-HFETs on 111-Si, hybrid integrated on PCB, consisting of single stage and balanced amplifier modules. 50 Ohm matching of the modules is realized with the use of commercial available SMDcomponents, allowing to cascade the individual modules. Depending on the setup of the system, either the total RFoutput power o...

Design and Fabrication of a 9–11 GHz Balanced Low Noise Amplifier Using HJFET

This paper describes the design of an X-band balanced low noise amplifier (LNA) using an available HJFET device. The balanced LNA consists of a pair of electrically similar transistors whose input and output signals are divided or combined by 3 dB two-stage Wilkinson power dividers. The proposed balanced LNA is fabricated and measured. The measured results show that the noise figure is 1.30 dB ...

Analysis on the Balanced Class-E Power Amplifier for the Load Mismatch Condition★

Analysis and simulation are presented of the mismatched load condition for a balanced class-E power amplifier, which is based on 90° hybrids at its input and output. The performances of the 200-Watt balanced class-E amplifier, such as the output power and efficiency, were analyzed and compared to the conventional single-ended class-E power amplifier for the 1:3 VSWR mismatch condition. The simu...
