Living with Schizophrenia: the role of interpersonal relationships

Abstract People with a chronic condition such as schizophrenia encounter significant challenges interacting their immediate environment. However, there is little data exploring interpersonal relationships between people living and families healthcare providers, particularly in developing countries. This study investigated the relationship experiences of persons Southern Ghana. The adopted descriptive phenomenological approach using purposive sampling technique to recruit nine (9) schizophrenia. Data were collected semi-structured in-depth, face-to-face interviews analysed analysis framework. Five themes emerged; three described positive relationships, two negative existed participants revealed poor public. Stigma was implicated factor responsible for outside families.
