The Songs of Ascents (Psalms 120–134) can be understood as the songs pilgrims, historically associated with Sion and symbolically man’s journey along road life. Included in this collection psalm 120 (121) is rather short does not contain references to historical events past. This why probably it was left without attention Russian biblical studies. In foreign studies, poem often interpreted a private song pilgrim leaving his home, written form dialogue between father son (Bob Becking, Arthur Weiser, Klaus Seibold). Following Sigmund Mouvenkel, Hans-Joachim Kraus Marina Manatti, author article suggests liturgical approach analysis (121). contains rhetorical question from (v. 1), priest’s answer 2) words consolation 3–8). theology focuses reader’s on role YHWH, who relation man only creator, but also helper, guardian, stronghold cover. peculiarities “liturgical theology” hymn, according author, show that present form, adapted for performance. Consequently, primarily performed Jerusalem temple by priests or Levites, afterwards, sung ordinary Israelites their way back home.
