چکیده

Intercropping is among sustainable intensification tactics farmers may use to increase or maintain productivity and environmental quality. Effects of planting lablab (Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet) one two weeks after maize (WAPM) are not well characterized, especially when mid-maturity cultivars used. Greenhouse (Springfield, MO, USA) field studies (Arusha, Tanzania) were conducted in 2018 2019 assess early (≤60 d) full-season effects on growth grain production. The greenhouse study characterized characteristics was sown 0-, 1-, 2-WAPM for each four lablab. ‘Echo Cream’ produced greater vine length more nodes than other the greenhouse. biomass node number greatest ≤1-WAPM. compared monoculture intercrop yields. Highest yields occurred ≥1-WAPM, but highest planted at same time as maize. maize/lablab always resulted favorable Land Equivalent Ratios (LERs) ranging from 1.5 2.1. partial LER yield reduced by 7% relative either year. Lablab negatively affected delay, decreasing about 60% 31% date treatment. Although twining vines complicate harvest, our results demonstrate increased production per unit area with intercropping, a potential farmer income household nutrition. Little or No Higgs

Higgsless models offer the possibility of electroweak symmetry breaking without the introduction of any explicit additional Higgs fields in the action within the extra dimensional framework. The various symmetries are broken via the application of appropriately chosen boundary conditions(BC) on the 5D gauge field wavefunctions. The role of the Goldstone bosons is played by the additional scalar...

Seasonal Influence on Yield and Yield Contributing Characters of Lablab Bean [Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet]

A study was conducted to evaluate the seasonal influence on yield and yield contributing characters of four lablab bean genotypes: IPSA Seam-1, IPSA Seam-2, BU Seam-3 and JER during September 2000 to December 2001 covering one main season (winter) and two off-seasons (early summer and late summer). Compared to off-seasons, all the genotypes performed better for all the parameters during winter....

Absence of Epistasis for Grain Yield in Elite Maize Hybrids

ABSTRACT Measures of epistasis in maize hybrids have been estimated by (i) triple-test crosses, (ii) making comparisons Certain maize (Zea mays L.) inbred lines are more successful than of single, three-way, and double cross hybrids, or (iii) others in forming elite hybrids. This study was conducted to determine measuring variance components (Hallauer and Miwhether epistatic interactions play a...

Correlations among Grain Yield and Yield Attributes in Maize Hybrids at Various Nitrogen Levels

Three maize hybrids (Baber, Pioneer 30P45 and Syngenta 6621) were compared for yield and yield components and correlations were worked out among the yield parameters at various nitrogen levels in an experiment conducted at Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan during summer 2009. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete blocks with split plot arrangement having three replication...

Allozyme Frequency Changes Associated with Selection for Increased Grain Yield in Maize (ZEA MAYS L.).

Frequency changes of alleles at eight enzyme loci were monitored in four long-term maize selection experiments. The results indicate that changes in frequencies of the alleles at these loci are associated with changes due to selection for improved grain yield. The frequencies changed more than is consistent with the hypothesis of selective neutrality. In addition, significant deviations from a ...
