LISREL analysis of twin data with structured means.
A method is introduced to test the hypothesis that both the phenotypic means and the phenotypic covariances can be modeled with the same common genetic and environmental factors. LISREL can be used to implement the method. An illustration is given with simulated twin data.
متن کاملStructured latent growth curves for twin data.
We describe methods to fit structured latent growth curves to data from MZ and DZ twins. The well-known Gompertz, logistic and exponential curves may be written as a function of three components - asymptote, initial value, and rate of change. These components are allowed to vary and covary within individuals in a structured latent growth model. Such models are highly economical, requiring a sma...
متن کاملSimultaneous genetic analysis of longitudinal means and covariance structure in the simplex model using twin data.
A longitudinal model based on the simplex model is presented to analyze simultaneously means and covariance structure using univariate longitudinal twin data. The objective of the model is to decompose the mean trend into components which can be attributed to those genetic and environmental factors which give rise to phenotypic individual differences and a component of unknown constitution whic...
متن کاملImproving envelopment in data envelopment analysis by means of unobserved DMUs: an application of banking industry
In data envelopment analysis, the relative efficiency of a decision making unit (DMU) is defined as the ratio of the sum of its weighted outputs to the sum of its weighted inputs allowing the DMUs to freely allocate weights to their inputs/outputs. However, this measure may not reflect a the true efficiency of a DMU because some of its inputs/outputs may not contribute reasonably in computing t...
متن کاملTree Structured Data Analysis
Classification and regression trees are becoming increasingly popular for partitioning data and identifying local structure in small and large datasets. Classification trees include those models in which the dependent variable (the predicted variable) is categorical. Regression trees include those in which it is continuous. This paper discusses pitfalls in the use of these methods and highlight...
