Liquid Hot Water Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass at Lab and Pilot Scale

نویسندگان

چکیده

Liquid hot water pretreatment is considered to be a promising method for increasing biomass digestibility due the moderate operational conditions without chemical additions. A necessary step towards scalability of this process performing pilot plant trials. Upscaling was evaluated with scaling factor 500, by using 50 mL in laboratory and 25 L batch reactor. Pretreatment times were varied from 30 240 min, temperatures used 180–188 °C, while applying similar heating profiles at both scales. The initial mass fraction poplar wood chips ranged 10% 16%. scale led analogous results. acetic acid analysis liquid solid fractions obtained after indicated that complete deacetylation can achieved.

Hydrothermal Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass and Kinetics

The study focus was an examination of the hydrothermal pretreatment method applied to the lignocellulosic substrate, represented by the prairie cord grass, and comparison between different conditions based on the yield of glucose after enzymatic hydrolysis. The treatment did not involve any chemicals usage. Enzymatic hydrolysis was performed in order to examine the amount of glucose which was r...

Extrusion Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass: A Review

Bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass to bioethanol has shown environmental, economic and energetic advantages in comparison to bioethanol produced from sugar or starch. However, the pretreatment process for increasing the enzymatic accessibility and improving the digestibility of cellulose is hindered by many physical-chemical, structural and compositional factors, which make these material...

Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass into Reducing Sugars

Lignocellulosic biomass is the most abundant renewable raw material on the earth and it is so far the most suitable and promising resource for the production of biofuels to replace long-term use of fossil oil. This research aims to convert lignocellulose-based industrial residuals, fibre sludge (FS) from a pulp mill and pine sawdust (PSD) from a sawmill, into platform sugars by two different bi...

An Integrated Process of Ionic Liquid Pretreatment and Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Lignocellulosic Biomass with Immobilised Cellulase

An integrated process of lignocellulosic biomass conversion was set up involving pretreatment by an ionic liquid (IL) and hydrolysis of cellulose using cellulase immobilised by the sol-gel method, with recovery and reuse of both the IL and biocatalyst. As all investigated ILs, regardless of the nature of the anion and the cation, led to the loss of at least 50% of the hydrolytic activity of cel...
