Liquid Biopsy in Advanced Colorectal Cancer: Clinical Applications of Different Analytes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Colorectal cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers nowadays. In metastatic setting, diagnosis and treatment have relied on tumor tissue analysis. However, different limitations this approach recently opened door to introduction liquid biopsy in clinical setting. Liquid provides real-time information about its heterogeneity a simple, non-invasive, repeatable way. There are several analytes that can be sought: exosomes, circulating cells, DNA, showing promising results areas early detection, minimal residual disease, prognosis, or response treatment. Here, we review applications advanced colorectal patients, focusing diagnosis, prognostic assessment, drug sensitivity, response, acquired resistance monitoring.

Liquid Biopsy: Advances, Limitations and Clinical Applications
As an important part of precision medicine, liquid biopsy attracts more and more attention of scholars and clinicians. It refers to the real-time monitoring of the dynamic alterations of tumor by detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and exosomes in patients’ plasma or serum. Thus, liquid biopsy has irreplaceable advantages in tumor early diagnosis, progression...
متن کاملClinical Application of Liquid Biopsy in Targeted Therapy of Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
Background. Colorectal cancers (CRC) shed DNA into blood circulation. There is growing evidence that the analysis of circulating tumor DNA can be effectively used for monitoring of disease, to track tumor heterogeneity and to evaluate response to treatment. Case Presentation. Here, we describe two cases of patients with advanced CRC. The first case is about a patient with no available tissue fo...

Examination of tumor molecular characteristics by liquid biopsy is likely to greatly influence personalized cancer patient management. Analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), circulating tumor cells (CTCs), and tumor-derived exosomes, all collectively referred to as "liquid biopsies," are not only a modality to monitor treatment efficacy, disease progression, and emerging therapy resistance ...
متن کاملA Review of Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy on Potential Clinical Applications Towards Diagnosing Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading cancers in the world and early-screening is still the best method of cancer patient survival. However, colonoscopy as the current gold standard is not without flaws and an emerging technique called surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) coupled with machine learning is a possible candidate that could be applied in parallel with colonoscopy. This...
