چکیده
The objective of the present study was to investigate genetic trends 18 subjectively scored linear type traits describing animal morphology, as well udder, teat, feet and leg conformation. analysis undertaken using 2,932,700 Holstein-Friesian females born in Republic Ireland between years 2000 2020, inclusive. results indicate that have progressively become shorter stature shallower (i.e. body depth) less angular. reduction merit for score since year 2004 was, however, only observed non-herdbook-registered heifers. Furthermore, reducing depth narrower) angularity angular) approximately twice fast heifers it herdbook-registered Differences body-related calves versus those became cows existed prior 2010 with little biological differences thereafter; this observation common across most traits. Genetic locomotion animals has deteriorated over 20-yr period, while foot angle period is becoming lower; no such were animals. Large not themselves, but also mean udder when comparing non-registered calves. In conclusion, many evaluated trended relatively consistent a given direction, albeit cumulative change s.d. units per very small.

Body condition score and live-weight effects on milk production in Irish Holstein-Friesian dairy cows.
The objective of the present study was to quantify the relationships among body condition score (BCS; scale 1 to 5), live weight (WT) and milk production in Irish Holstein-Friesian spring calving dairy cows. Data were from 66 commercial dairy herds during the years 1999 and 2000. The data consisted of up to 9886 lactations with records for BCS or WT at least once pre-calving, or at calving, nad...
متن کاملEvidence for genetic variance in resistance to tuberculosis in Great Britain and Irish Holstein-Friesian populations
BACKGROUND Here, we jointly summarise scientific evidence for genetic variation in resistance to infection with Mycobacterium bovis, the primary agent of bovine tuberculosis (TB), provided by two recent and separate studies of Holstein-Friesian dairy cow populations in Great Britain (GB) and Ireland. METHODS The studies quantified genetic variation within archived data from field and abattoir...
متن کاملBlood metabolic profiles in Uruguayan Holstein and Uruguayan Holstein x New Zealand Holstein-Friesian dairy cows
Blood metabolic profiles were determined from 40 days prepartum to 60 days postpartum in Uruguayan Holstein (UH) (n = 13) and UH x New Zealand Holstein-Friesian first cross (UH-NZHF) (n = 13) cows with seven in each group experiencing their second lactation (L2) and six experiencing their third lactation (L3). Non-esterified fatty acids increased around calving and tended to be greater in UH-L3...
متن کاملGenetic relationships between detailed reproductive traits and performance traits in Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle.
The objective of the study was to estimate the genetic relationships between detailed reproductive traits derived from ultrasound examination of the reproductive tract and a range of performance traits in Holstein-Friesian dairy cows. The performance traits investigated included calving performance, milk production, somatic cell score (i.e., logarithm transformation of somatic cell count), carc...
متن کاملGenetic aspects of growth of Holstein-Friesian dairy cows from birth to maturity.
In general, genetic selection is applied after first calving to traits that manifest themselves during the animal's productive life, mostly during the early part of productive life. This selection policy has had undesirable correlated responses in other economically important traits, such as health and fertility, and may also have had an effect on the growth of animals both during productive li...
