Linear geological structure, traverse orientation and structure resolution and characterisation using 1D and 2D resistivity images

This paper presents results of previous investigations involving 1D and 2D resistivity imaging linear geological structures with varying traverse orientations relative to the structure azimuth a view determining effect such variation on resolution structures. It observed that orientation fault significantly determines while alignment vertical electrical sounding (VES) defines form VES curve leads inconsistency in thickness estimates overall depth at deep depth. were best resolved images when traverses established normal (in-line) azimuth. Structures delineated by in-line are corroborated interpretation models confirmed drillers’ logs, whereas is impaired parallel (cross-line) images/maps distorted disjointed image investigated For two orthogonal alignments (in-line cross-line) an fault, deviations layer values generally ?17% thickness/depth deviated as much 30–78%,
