Limiting fluctuations in quantum gravity to diffeomorphisms

چکیده
Within the background field formalism of quantum gravity, I show that if fluctuations are limited to diffeomorphic gauge transformations rather than physical degrees freedom, as in conventional theory, all corrections vanish on shell and effective action is equivalent classical action. In principle, resulting theory finite unitary, requires no renormalization. also this unique parameterization renders path integral independent on-shell condition for field, a form independence. Thus, connection established between independence renormalizability unitarity.

Physical Diffeomorphisms in Loop Quantum Gravity
We investigate the action of diffeomorphisms in the context of Hamiltonian Gravity. By considering how the diffeomorphism-invariant Hilbert space of Loop Quantum Gravity should be constructed, we formulate a physical principle by demanding, that the gauge-invariant Hilbert space is a completion of gauge(i.e. diffeomorphism-)orbits of the classical (configuration) variables, explaining which ext...
متن کاملDiscretisations, Constraints and Diffeomorphisms in Quantum Gravity
In this review we discuss the interplay between discretization, constraint implementation, and diffeomorphism symmetry in Loop Quantum Gravity and Spin Foam models. To this end we review the Consistent Discretizations approach, which is an application of the master constraint program to construct the physical Hilbert space of the canonical theory, as well as the Perfect Actions approach, which ...
متن کاملLarge diffeomorphisms in 2+1 quantum gravity on the torus.
The issue of how to deal with the modular transformations – large diffeomorphisms – in (2+1)-quantum gravity on the torus is discussed. I study the Chern-Simons/connection representation and show that the behavior of the modular transformations on the reduced configuration space is so bad that it is possible to rule out all finite dimensional unitary representations of the modular group on the ...
متن کاملLarge “Dipolar” Vacuum Fluctuations in Quantum Gravity
We study a novel set of gravitational field configurations, called “dipolar zero modes”, which give an exactly null contribution to the Einstein action and are thus candidates to become large fluctuations in the quantized theory. They are generated by static unphysical sources satisfying (up to terms of order G) the simple condition ∫ dxT00(x) = 0. We give two explicit examples of virtual sourc...
متن کاملFluctuations, Gravity, and the Quantum Potential
We show how the quantum potential arises in various ways and trace its connection to quantum fluctuations and Fisher information along with its realization in terms of Weyl curvature. It represents a genuine quantization factor for certain classical systems as well as an expression for quantum matter in gravity theories of Weyl-Dirac type. Many of the facts and examples are extracted from the l...
