Limited implementation of the Nordic hamstring exercise in professional and semi-professional soccer

Background/Purpose: In soccer players, non-contact injuries are most common, especially hamstring muscle injuries, which can be prevented by the Nordic exercise (NHE). This study assessed professional and semi-professional players coaches’ awareness, implementation, opinion of NHE efficacy in reducing injuries. Methods: A questionnaire regarding opinions NHE’s was distributed. Results: The survey completed 812 (88.3% male 11.7% female) coaches. Of these, 395 (48.6%) were aware NHE, 355 (43.7%) implemented it their current practice. Those implementing had a positive about its Conclusion: Further efforts research warranted to increase international awareness implementation educate coaches importance effectiveness preventing injury.
