Limitation of nutrients stimulates musty odor production by Streptomyces sp. isolated from a tropical environment

چکیده

Musty odor production by actinomycetes is usually related to the presence of geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB), which are synthesized enzymes encoded geoA tpc genes, respectively. Streptomyces spp. strain S10, was isolated from a water reservoir in Malaysia, has ability produce when cultivated basal salt (BS) solid medium, but no 2-MIB occurred during growth BS medium. Strain S10 could higher levels phosphate concentration limited 0.05 mg/L, with yield 17.53 ± 3.12 ✕ 105 ng/L, compared Interestingly, suddenly detected nitrate 1.0 1.4 0.11 ng/L. Therefore, it concluded that phosphate- nitrate-limiting conditions induce initial S10. Furthermore, positive amplicon PCR analysis. Draft genome sequence analysis showed one open reading frame (ORF) contained conserved motif synthase 95% identity coelicolor A3 (2). In case found ORF 23% known gene S. A3(2), lacked N-terminus.

Characterization of Musty Odor-Producing Actinomycetes from Tropics and Effects of Temperature on the Production of Musty Odor Compounds

Geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) outbreaks in tropical water bodies, such as Southeast Asia, by actinomycetes have not yet been elucidated in detail. Six Streptomyces isolates from lowland environments in Malaysia were selected and evaluated for their odor production under different temperatures. The gene responsible for the production of geosmin, geoA, was detected in all isolates, while o...

Dissipation of butachlor by a new strain of Pseudomonas sp. isolated from paddy soils

Butachlor (BUT) is a chloroacetanilide herbicide widely applied to rice paddies to control annual grass and broad-leaf weeds. A BUT-degrading bacterial strain (PK) was isolated from paddy soils. Biochemical and 16S rRNA sequencing characteristics confirmed the strain as Pseudomonas aeruginosa (99% resemblance). The isolate dissipated BUT (100 μg/mL) in an M9 liquid medium with a rate of 0.5 ± 0...

Bioemulsifier production by Streptomyces sp. S22 isolated from garden soil.

Out of 45 actinomycetes isolated from garden soil, pond water and air; fifteen showed good emulsification activity. Streptomyces sp. S22 isolated from garden soil produced maximum bioemulsifier with 0.5% (v/v) sunflower oil during stationary phase at 37 degrees C, pH 6 and 250 rev/min. Emulsification activity was maximum (320 EU/ml) with sunflower oil as substrate. Partially purified bioemulsif...

Pantoea sp. Isolated from Tropical Fresh Water Exhibiting N-Acyl Homoserine Lactone Production

N-Acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) serves as signaling molecule for quorum sensing (QS) in Gram-negative bacteria to regulate various physiological activities including pathogenicity. With the aim of isolating freshwater-borne bacteria that can cause outbreak of disease in plants and portrayed QS properties, environmental water sampling was conducted. Here we report the preliminary screening of AH...
