Light-yellow Coloration of Sweet Pea (<i>Lathyrus odoratus</i> L.) Flowers is Caused by Carotenoid and Regulated by a Single Recessive Gene

چکیده

There are light-yellow flower cultivars of sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus L.), but no deep-yellow ones. Observation flowers under ultraviolet and blue light suggested that carotenoids responsible for the coloration. We carried out both spectroscopic high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analyses floral extracts a cultivar, ‘Artemis’, revealed pigments not flavonoids, carotenoids, among which acylated lutein is major component. Because pigment color in other plants, we expect to be able generate pea. The R C loci complementary genes regulating biosynthesis anthocyanin cyanic coloration flowers. In progenies obtained by crossing ‘Artemis’ white ‘Diana White’, whose genotype RRcc, F1 plants had red phenotype only, F2 four phenotypes were white, yellow, combination yellow red. Furthermore, another ‘Stella’, only. These data indicate rrCC trait regulated single recessive gene, y, furthermore, y gene linkage with or allele. theoretical segregation ratio plants’ as one parent case Y, independent each presented. also found some containing higher amounts than ‘Artemis’.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Production is Regulated by Gene Polymorphisms

Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has a key role in angiogene-sis and in transplantation. The level of VEGF is related to the differences in the DNA sequence of its promoter region. Objectives: In this study, the association between the combination of VEGF –1154 G and –2578 C alleles and VEGF production by LPS-stimulated PBMCs was investigated. In addition; the relationship ...

Autosomal Recessive Hypohidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia Caused by a Novel Mutation in EDAR Gene

Backgrounds: Hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED) is a rare genetic disorder, distinguished by hypotrichosis, hypohidrosis, and hypodontia. HDE can be inherited in X-linked recessive manner as a result of mutations in the ectodysplasin A (EDA) gene as well as autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive manners both of them caused by mutations in EDA receptor (EDAR) and EDAR-associated death d...

Red Carotenoid Coloration in the Zebra Finch Is Controlled by a Cytochrome P450 Gene Cluster

Bright-red colors in vertebrates are commonly involved in sexual, social, and interspecific signaling [1-8] and are largely produced by ketocarotenoid pigments. In land birds, ketocarotenoids such as astaxanthin are usually metabolically derived via ketolation of dietary yellow carotenoids [9, 10]. However, the molecular basis of this gene-environment mechanism has remained obscure. Here we use...
