Light-emitting diode bulb aspiration in a Nigerian child: A case report

نویسندگان

چکیده

We report a 7-year-old girl who suddenly developed dyspnea, which was persistent, progressive, and severe with associated stridor hoarseness following the aspiration of light-emitting diode (LED) bulb that she held in her mouth while playing friend. Plain radiograph soft-tissue neck revealed U-shaped radiopaque object glottis. An otolaryngologist extracted LED from glottis through direct laryngoscopy under inhalational anesthetic agents without intubation. She treated analgesics antibiotics admitted into ward for observation 24 h, discharged home satisfactory condition. Globally, there is paucity literature on aspiration, index case first documented our center; hence, it an addition to body literature. Therefore, we strongly recommend differential diagnoses wire-like foreign airway radiographs should include bulb.
