Life Cycle Cost Assessment of Offshore Wind Farm: Kudat Malaysia Case

The Government of Malaysia has set a striving target to achieve higher usage renewable energy (RE) in the mix which is currently around 2% country’s electricity. Yet, government intends increase this ratio up 20% by year 2025. Most comes from hydropower and biomass sources. Meanwhile, numerous studies have been conducted determine feasibility wind Malaysia. Several locations were reported be economically viable for development such as Kudat, Mersing, Kuala Terengganu. This study presents discusses whole life cycle cost analysis an offshore farm determines drivers developments. It covers data collection analysis, breakdown structure, calculation levelized (LCOE). Results showed that almost 67% total was incurred capital expenditure (CAPEX), 26% operation maintenance costs (OPEX), while decommissioning (DECOM) reached 7% costs. LCOE calculated determined USD 127.58/MWh.
