Lichen planus and its therapeutic management: a retrospective study

Objectives: To study the epidemiological distribution of disease lichen planus and its therapeutic management. Methods: A total 174 patients with a diagnosis between 2008 2017 at Portuguese public hospital were included in this retrospective study. The following data collected from clinical records: gender, age, topographic lesions, prescribed therapy (active substance, route, scheme administration), mean duration illness, episodes cure relapse. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM® SPSS® Statistics software, version 25. Results: In population, affected both genders same probability (p=0.820), more prevalent 4th-5th decades age. lesions appeared skin (75.9% patients), mucous membranes (5.2%), or (19.0%). most drugs corticosteroids, followed by antihistamines immunosuppressants. Topical corticosteroids common ones, namely clobetasol propionate (37.4%). Within systemic prednisolone drug (12.3%). average symptoms approximately 6.5 months. For relapsing population (12%), period symptoms’ remission 513 days. Conclusions: parameters these bear similarities other described populations. No evidence-based has proven to be effective for treatment, but topical continue firstline pathology.
