Level of knowledge about basic life support of undergraduate students from the health area

Abstract: Introduction: Basic Life Support (BLS) refers to the procedures that must be performed in situations of cardiorespiratory arrest or airway obstruction, and therefore, undergraduate students health professionals highly trained perform. Objective: To determine level knowledge about associated factors among from area their last year school a public university. Methods: This is cross-sectional study with Physical Education, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine Dentistry at Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, Brazil. Data collection was carried out 2019, month course completion, by researcher using self-administered questionnaire containing sociodemographic data, professional training, perceived self-knowledge validated BLS instrument. There an association between outcome “undergraduate students’ knowledge” dichotomized as high (≥70% correct) low (<70% independent variables (sociodemographic training self-knowledge) performance binary multinomial logistic regression (p<0.05). Results: 191 participated study, being 85.6% chosen universe. A total 30 participants (15.7%) had on BLS, Nursing (n = 12) 18) courses. While 35.3% 46.2% there were no Education (0.0%), Pharmacy (0.0%) In crude analysis, younger age (OR=2.75, 95%CI:1.22-6.21), not feeling safe perform (OR=3.12, 95%CI:1.38-7.01) fact discipline part (OR=18.35, 95%CI:2.44-138.1). adjusted (OR=13.41, 95%CI:1.74-103.12) remained. Conclusion: Most only courses demonstrated knowledge. After adjustment, lower BLS.
