Legume Overseeding along with P Fertilization Increase Forage Production of Temperate Natural Grasslands

چکیده

Legume overseeding along with P fertilization is a common practice used in natural temperate and subtropical grasslands to increase forage production. This has been evaluated at experimental plots but not the paddocks level of commercial farms. The latter are realistic evaluation units generate knowledge for livestock management. In this study, enhanced vegetation index (EVI), proxy production, was evaluate effect on grazed Uruguay. Twenty paired under similar grazing conditions were selected grassland (NG) legume (NG-LP). Paired compared terms EVI mean its temporal variability. After nine years intensification practice, annual NG-LP 4% higher than that NG, while winter–spring 7.5% higher. intra- inter-annual variability 8–11% NG. Additionally, production estimated using radiative transfer model. Differences between NG amplified six seven times. increased pastoral paddocks, particularly period deficit, it also intra

Potential of Legume–Brassica Intercrops for Forage Production and Green Manure: Encouragements from a Temperate Southeast European Environment

Legumes and brassicas have much in common: importance in agricultural history, rich biodiversity, numerous forms of use, high adaptability to diverse farming designs, and various non-food applications. Rare available resources demonstrate intercropping legumes and brassicas as beneficial to both, especially for the latter, profiting from better nitrogen nutrition. Our team aimed at designing a ...

No Evidence of Complementary Water Use along a Plant Species Richness Gradient in Temperate Experimental Grasslands

Niche complementarity in resource use has been proposed as a key mechanism to explain the positive effects of increasing plant species richness on ecosystem processes, in particular on primary productivity. Since hardly any information is available for niche complementarity in water use, we tested the effects of plant diversity on spatial and temporal complementarity in water uptake in experime...

Evaluation of Cross-fertilization in Forage Crops

In the improvement of forage crop varieties knowledge of~e .extent of cross-fertilization is of value for (1) de~g the extent and randomness of crossing in breedmg procedures, (2) estimating varietal changes due to contamination and mechanical mixtures, and (3) evaluating effects of cross, fertilization in the development and production of synthetic and hybrid combinations. Genetic markers can a...
