Lecturers’ Training Needs in EMI Programmes: Beyond Language Competence

This paper reports the results of an analysis English as a Medium Instruction (EMI) lecturers’ training needs at Spanish state university. In order to carry out this analysis, participants were asked complete quantitative questionnaire and participate in survey with open questions adapted from Pérez-Cañado 2020). Both tools explored relation specific areas: linguistic competence, methodology, materials resources, continuing professional development their overall rating EMI programme. The show that, on one hand, teachers feel that competence is sufficient conduct classes English. On other seem less confident far methodological concerned call for more ongoing training. These findings are mostly consonance studies carried similar contexts (Dafouz 2018; Macaro et al. 2019; 2020; Coelho preparation) but they also provide some new insights which should be taken into consideration design programmes lecturers involved Higher Education.
