Human standing balance relies on self-motion estimates that are used by the nervous system to detect unexpected movements and enable corrective responses adaptations in control. These must accommodate for inherent delays sensory motor pathways. Here, we a robotic simulate human about ankles anteroposterior direction impose sensorimotor into control of balance. Imposed destabilized standing, but through training, participants adapted re-learned with delays. Before imposed attenuated vestibular contributions triggered perceptions motion, suggesting increased uncertainty internal estimates. After partially returned baseline levels larger were needed evoke motion. Through learning, accommodates causally linking whole-body feedback (initially interpreted as motion) self-generated commands.
