Learning Spatial Design through Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Spatial design at interior, site, city and regional scales is increasingly complex, will continue to be so with the uncertainty of climate crisis growing place-based intricacies pluralist societies. In response this complexity, professional practice has pursued new ways working. More projects are becoming more interdisciplinary less hierarchically structured, involving collaborative project teams a variety backgrounds in architecture, urban design, landscape interior engineering, ecological sciences art. At universities, design-learning studio which pedagogically champions authentic replication projects, also bifurcated. While teaching through traditional disciplinary-based problem-solving processes an individual still understandably commonplace, type emerged, led by group work collaborations, framed complexity seemingly irreconcilable problematic subject.
