Lean practices adoption in the Portuguese industry

Purpose: The study purpose was to analyse the excellence and operational efficiency of Portuguese industrial companies through measurement lean practices implementation. Additionally, it intended propose a new model assess production system.Design/methodology/approach: research presents an in-depth literature review that served as basis for creation questionnaire. survey addressed obtain data about their implementation success. Collected were analysed, resorting descriptive exploratory statistics. A principal component analysis applied reduce amount define characterizes adoption level. Some Chi-square tests used independence some variables.Findings: results indicate significant percentage organizations use within activity. Concerning maturity, plus side revealed by concerns teamwork, internal information shared principles, increase process capability produce conforming products, reduction in set up times.
