Lead acetate ecotoxicity in tropical soils

چکیده

Lead acetate (AcPb) is an important raw material used in chemical industries worldwide. The potential toxicity of AcPb generally attributed to the presence Pb. However, effect on environment as a whole still poorly known. This study aimed evaluate three standard species soil invertebrates and two plant using ecotoxicology tests. Three tropical soils (Oxisol, Inceptisol, Tropical Artificial Soil (TAS)) were contaminated with different concentrations one dose K-acetate (positive control). These tests Eisenia andrei (earthworm), Folsomia candida (springtail), Enchytraeus crypticus (enchytraeid), Zea mays (maize), Phaseolus vulgaris (common bean). Dose-response curves obtained laboratory estimate EC50 values for each species. Among invertebrates, highest sensitivity was observed E. TAS (EC50 = 29.8 mg kg?1), whereas F. Oxisol 141.9 1835 kg?1, respectively). least sensitive invertebrate all soils. species, Z. less 1527.5 kg?1) than P. 560.5 Oxisol. present evidenced that should not be uniquely Pb, treatment containing Ac provoked same AcPb.

Sequential sorption of lead and cadmium in three tropical soils.

It is important to examine mechanisms of Pb and Cd sorption in soils to understand their bioavailability. The ability of three tropical soils to retain Pb, Cd, and Ca was evaluated. The objectives of this study were to (1) determine the extent to which soil sorption sites are metal specific, (2) investigate the nature of reactions between metals and soil surfaces, and (3) identify how metals co...

Concentration, pH, and surface charge effects on cadmium and lead sorption in three tropical soils.

Reactions of heavy metals with soil are important in determining metal fates in the environment. Sorption characteristics of two heavy metals, Cd and Pb, in three tropical soils (Mollisol, Oxisol, and Ultisol) from Puerto Rico were assessed at varying metal concentrations (0 to 1.2 mM) and pH values (approximately 2 to 7). All soils sorbed more Pb than Cd. Sorption maxima were obtained for each...

Use of ecotoxicity test and ecoscores to improve the management of polluted soils: case of a secondary lead smelter plant.

With the rise of sustainable development, rehabilitation of brownfield sites located in urban areas has become a major concern. Management of contaminated soils in relation with environmental and sanitary risk concerns is therefore a strong aim needing the development of both useful tools for risk assessment and sustainable remediation techniques. For soils polluted by metals and metalloids (MT...
