Layer-by-layer polymer deposited fabrics with superior flame retardancy and electrical conductivity

Smart and multifunctional textiles fabrics are progressively developing, such that becoming more widespread. We elaborated herein multi-layered flax with superior flame retardancy conductivity, which revealed fireproof feature while keeping conductivity during burning. The fabric was reinforced by layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition of sodium polyacrylate (SPA), polyethylenimine (PEI), ammonium polyphosphate (APP), lastly a composite having poly(aniline-co-melamine) montmorillonite (MMT) coated the aforementioned layers. resulting were characterized systematically Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Flame conducted on pyrolysis-combustion flow calorimetry (PCFC), vertical burning test. TGA test showed significant increase in amount residue treated (37%) against 19% assigned to untreated fabrics. Surprisingly, PCFC very low peak heat release rate (pHRR) 15 W/g (HRR) for respect 234 (≈ −94%). In addition, demonstrated character range 1–8 × 10−7 S/cm before burning, astonishingly survived up 30 s after This bi-functional retardant conductive enables taking next steps towards development materials advanced technologies.
