چکیده

Abstract In this work, two different approaches to treat boundary conditions in a lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for the wave equation are presented. We interpret as governing of displacement field solid under simplified deformation assumptions, but algorithms not limited interpretation. A feature both is that does need conform with discretization, i.e., regular lattice. This allows larger flexibility regarding geometries can be handled by LBM. The first algorithm aims at determining missing distribution functions points such way desired macroscopic condition fulfilled. second only available Neumann-type and considers balance momentum control volumes on mesoscopic scale, scale spacing. Numerical examples demonstrate new indeed improve accuracy LBM compared previous results they able model complex do

Boundary conditions for the lattice Boltzmann method

Based on the no-slip boundary condition for walls at rest for the lattice Boltzmann Bathnagar-Gross-Krook method by J.C.G. Verschaeve [10], a no-slip boundary condition for walls with a tangential movement is derived. Numerical tests verify that the present boundary condition is second order accurate and stable for relaxation frequencies close to two.

Lees-Edwards boundary conditions for Lattice Boltzmann

Lees-Edwards boundary conditions (LEbc) for Molecular Dynamics simulations [1] are an extension of the well known periodic boundary conditions and allow the simulation of bulk systems in a simple shear flow. We show how the idea of LEbc can be implemented in lattice Boltzmann simulations and how LEbc can be used to overcome the problem of a maximum shear rate that is limited to less then 1/Ly (...

Exact artificial boundary conditions for a lattice Boltzmann method

When using a lattice Boltzmann method on an unbounded (or very large) domain one has to confine this spatial domain to a computational domain. This is realized by introducing so-called artificial boundary conditions. Until recently, characteristic boundary conditions for the Euler equations were considered and adapted to the lattice Boltzmann method. In this work we propose novel discrete artif...

Boundary conditions for free interfaces with the lattice Boltzmann method

In this paper we analyze the boundary treatment of the Lattice Boltzmann method for simulating 3D flows with free surfaces. The widely used free surface boundary condition of Körner is shown to be first order accurate. The article presents new free surface boundary schemes that are suitable for the lattice Boltzmann method and that have second order spatial accuracy. The new method takes the fr...

Kinetic boundary conditions in the lattice Boltzmann method.

Derivation of the lattice Boltzmann method from the continuous kinetic theory [X. He and L. S. Luo, Phys. Rev. E 55, R6333 (1997); X. Shan and X. He, Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 65 (1998)] is extended in order to obtain boundary conditions for the method. For the model of a diffusively reflecting moving solid wall, the boundary condition for the discrete set of velocities is derived, and the error of ...
