Laser Ablation Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles for Polymer Nanocomposites

Silver nanoparticles were synthesized via laser ablation in two different organic solvents (tetrahydrofuran and toluene). The influence of solvent choice on the production behavior silver dispersed a polystyrene matrix was investigated. UV–Vis spectroscopy, ellipsometry scanning probe microscopy techniques used for characterization. nanoparticles’ optical properties modified by existence core-shell structure appearing toluene-ablated particles. For both and, particular, toluene case, particles showed good dispersion matrix. Additionally, interphase doped polymer films influenced synthesis process, affecting mechanical (dielectric) properties. observed results nanocomposite are attributed to formation around directly due solvents. These findings contribute understanding silver/polystyrene nanocomposites offer opportunities developing tailored functional materials using liquids.
