Large-scale seismic risk assessment integrating nonlinear soil behavior and soil–structure interaction effects

The need for an accurate risk assessment procedure led to the development of various fragility and vulnerability curves, covering a wide range building typologies. Nonlinear soil behavior soil–structure interaction (SSI) effects play essential role in this outcome; nevertheless, their influence is usually neglected. While building-specific applications, these may be explicitly considered, it currently impossible account such large-scale seismic analyses. We examine effectiveness broad set modifiers (FM) that shift existing curves appropriately consider nonlinear and/or SSI. apply our method block of—mainly—residential buildings Thessaloniki, Greece.
