Large-Scale Geothermal Collector Systems for 5th Generation District Heating and Cooling Networks

Low temperature district heating and cooling networks (5GDHC) in combination with very shallow geothermal energy potentials enable the complete renewable supply of settlements up to entire city districts. With help 5GDHC, can be distributed at a low level almost no distribution losses made useable consumers via decentralized heat pumps (HP). Numerous sources, from wastewater exchangers low-temperature industrial waste borehole large-scale collector systems (LSC), used for these networks. The use also offers opportunity shift loads seasonally, contributing flexibility network. In addition, soil cooled below freezing point due strong regeneration caused by solar irradiation. Multilayer deliberately generate excessive individual areas order provide residential buildings, office complexes or applications. Planning requires expertise understanding regarding interaction technologies overall system. This paper provides summary experience planning 5GDHC as well other sources.
