Language and persuasion: A discursive psychological approach

Across the social sciences, there is a wealth of research on role language in persuasion interpersonal communication. Most these studies have been conducted laboratories using experimental methods, taken cognitive perspective, and focused effects particular linguistic practices how persuasive messages are understood, processed, ultimately complied with. By contrast, less attention has paid to can be used create sequential, interactional, obligations, everyday interactions, like sales encounters or business negotiations, where occurs naturally built into fabric conversation. In reviewing former approach studying persuasion, this paper, I highlight several critical shortcomings. Then, argue that, when occurring persuasion-in-interaction, discursive psychological better suited for investigating theorising interactional structures underpinning therein.
