Land Use Conflicts Assessment in Xiamen, China under Multiple Scenarios

چکیده
The accelerated urbanization process has resulted in increasingly prominent conflicts land resource utilization and caused numerous ecological environmental issues. Simulating the evolutionary patterns of use (LUCs) is foundation for promoting sustainable use. Markov GeoSOS-FLUS models were used to predict under three different development scenarios, analyze spatio-temporal characteristics LUCs Xiamen, China 2030. Results showed following: (1) From 2010 2020, use/cover Xiamen changed substantially, with an increase 6.93% area construction a decrease 5.40% cropland. (2) In natural scenario, projected increase, while areas cropland other types reduce. policy intervention continues increasing growth effectively controlled. Under cropland, grassland, wetlands high quality that serve important functions have been protected. (3) differ greatly scenarios scenario (SDS) balances needs both socio-economic regional security least LUCs, which could be optimum solution long-term Xiamen. results this study provide support decisions about eco-city geospatial planning.

Mediterranean California’s water use future under multiple scenarios of developed and agricultural land use change
With growing demand and highly variable inter-annual water supplies, California's water use future is fraught with uncertainty. Climate change projections, anticipated population growth, and continued agricultural intensification, will likely stress existing water supplies in coming decades. Using a state-and-transition simulation modeling approach, we examine a broad suite of spatially explici...

While land serves numerous societal functions and contributes to sustainable development, it is often unclear how these functions are affected by political decisions and common drivers of land use change, such as economic development, climate change and demographic change. This study evaluates alternative land use scenarios in reference to a rural region of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (Chi...
متن کاملHydrological responses of a watershed to historical land use evolution and future land use scenarios under climate change conditions
Watershed runoff is closely related to land use but this influence is difficult to quantify. This study focused on the Chaudière River watershed (Québec, Canada) and had two objectives: (i) to quantify the influence of historical agricultural land use evolution on watershed runoff; and (ii) to assess the effect of future land use evolution scenarios under climate change conditions (CC). To achi...
متن کاملEconomic-based projections of future land use in the conterminous United States under alternative policy scenarios.
Land-use change significantly contributes to biodiversity loss, invasive species spread, changes in biogeochemical cycles, and the loss of ecosystem services. Planning for a sustainable future requires a thorough understanding of expected land use at the fine spatial scales relevant for modeling many ecological processes and at dimensions appropriate for regional or national-level policy making...
