Laboratory Evaluation of the Relationship of Asphalt Binder and Asphalt Mastic via a Modified MSCR Test

Asphalt mastic, which consists of an asphalt binder and a mineral filler, provides critical adhesion viscoelasticity to mixture. The rheological response the mastic is mainly derived from its binder. In this study, simple laboratory test method proposed estimate relationship mastic. Two modified binders (3.5% 4.0% styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) by mass) were blended with limestone filler at six different contents produce samples. A multiple stress creep-recovery (MSCR) was conducted on both same testing protocols, conditions in linear or nonlinear investigated. results show that decreased increasing contents. However, for linear-viscoelasticity decrease rate began slow down when content had reached 100% 120%. For properties %R improved adding especially nonlinear-viscoelasticity also showed viscoelastic good recovery property. performance highly related content.
