Knowledge Regarding Rabid Animal Bite among Rural Community People

Background: Rabies is an important public health problem in Bangladesh and at the top of list among zoonotic diseases. Objective: The objective study was to assess level knowledge regarding rabid animal bite rural community people. Methodology: This cross sectional conducted 345 people from 1st January 31st December, 2019 several villages Kaligonj Gazipur district. Convenience sampling adopted a semi-structured interviewer administered questionnaire used collect data. Results: mean age respondents 39.63 ±13.35 years where majority (84.1%, n=290) them were female 81.7% (n=282) literate. Only 4.9% (n=17) heard about rabies personnel, 14.2% (n=49) mass media, 20.0% (n=69) books 60.9% (n=210) general Most 98.8% (n=314) knew that caused by infection animal. (97.7%, n=337) had one should be vaccinated after Majority (92.8%, n=320) preventable, 84.6% (n=292) fatality disease.Half (50.7%, n=175) can prevented vaccination animals.Majority (58.8%, n=203) average while others good (38.8%, n=134), poor (2.3%, n=8) knowledge. Statistical significancewas found educational status (p<0.001). Conclusion: bite. There strong need for initiatives involving local population authorities support elimination program Bangladesh.
