Knowledge, Awareness and Practice on Dietary Management Among Patients with Urolithiasis: A Scoping Review

Urolithiasis or kidney stone has strong association with lifestyle. The pattern of recurrent episodes reported is alarming and if left untreated will lead to serious conditions such as cancer ablative surgical intervention. Therefore, this scoping review was performed provide an overview on knowledge, awareness practice (KAP) dietary management among patients urolithiasis. Published studies within 2010 until 2020 KAP urolithiasis globally Malaysia were searched through five databases including ProQuest Health Medical Complete, Wiley Online Library, EBSCO Host, Science Direct Scopus. quality appraisal using Freestyle Critical Appraisal. Two the authors involved in screening relevant literature while supervisor peer checking performed. A total eight publications; original three papers obtained but none from Malaysia. Only reviewed systematically basis its completeness for quantitative synthesis design, population, methodology instrumentation. scope interest urolithiasis, knowledge risk factors, sign symptoms, treatment preventive measure, well relationship between socio-demographic background. findings highlighted background age, gender, education level, income status, literacy level towards management. Lifestyle food intake weight crucial prevent episode Proper early intervention efforts may be helpful increase need by multidisciplinary effort.
