KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND PRACTICES OF DENTISTS REGARDING PHARMACOVIGILANCE AND REPORTING OF ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS IN NORTHWESTERN TURKEY: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

ABSTRACT Objectives: The drugs commonly used/prescribed by dentists/physicians or consumed patients may cause adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Therefore, the possibility of dentists to encounter an ADR during their professional lives cannot be underestimated and contribution pharmacovigilance systems notifying spontaneous reports play important role in early detection prevention ADRs. This study aimed assess knowledge, attitudes practices regarding reporting. Materials Methods: A questionnaire with 30 questions evaluating reporting among general (GDs) specialist (SDs) was distributed electronically northwestern region Turkey. Data were statistically analyzed (p < 0.05). Results: Most participants able define terms (64.7%), (74.9%) side-effect (58.1%). SDs significantly more aware ADRs related other than GDs. Additionally, awareness these higher ≤12 years experience (p<0.05). Only 2.8% (4 GDs, 6 SDs) reported lives. However, 52.5% had encountered oral mucosal lives, which group >12 Conclusions: diagnosis should not since they are integral part healthcare system. both GDs system needs improved integrated into daily dentists.
