Knowledge, attitude and practice of Ethiopian pediatricians concerning childhood eye diseases

Abstract Background Eye examination and vision assessment are vital for the detection of conditions that result in blindness. Childhood blindness seriously impacts development, education, future employment opportunities affected children. Pediatricians’ knowledge eye diseases is critical prevention through early diagnosis, allowing proper treatment identification requiring referral to an ophthalmologist preserve or restore vision. This study aimed assess knowledge, attitude, practice Ethiopian pediatricians concerning childhood diseases. Methods We carried out a cross-sectional descriptive working various hospitals clinics Ethiopia. Participants were selected via convenient sampling technique. Data collected using both closed open-ended semi-structured questionnaires. Responses entered into EpiData 3.1 transferred SPSS version 21.0 software analysis. Results A total 79 participated study. Our findings showed attitude all but 2 participants towards improving management was positive, even though this not reflected actual practice. Even attitudes often poor inadequate owing barriers such as undergraduate training, lack ophthalmology options during pediatric residency, unavailability ophthalmic equipment. Conclusions Participants’ their insufficient makes respect.
