Ligand-Induced Gold Nanocrystal Superlattice Formation in Colloidal Solution
Introduction. During the past decade, nanocrystal research has been focused on two major properties of finite size materials, namely, quantum size effects and surface/interface effects.1 A new trend, however, has emerged in the past few years to arrange the nanocrystals into two or three-dimensional superlattices.2 The ability to synthesize nanocrystal superlattice (NCS) structures will provide...
متن کاملThe Nanocrystal Superlattice Pressure Cell: A Novel Approach To Study Molecular Bundles under Uniaxial Compression
Ordered assemblies of inorganic nanocrystals coated with organic linkers present interesting scientific challenges in hard and soft matter physics. We demonstrate that a nanocrystal superlattice under compression serves as a nanoscopic pressure cell to enable studies of molecular linkers under uniaxial compression. We developed a method to uniaxially compress the bifunctional organic linker by ...

متن کاملUse of Superlattice Structure To Control Reaction Mechanism: Kinetics and Energetics of NbsSe4 Formation
This paper presents a study of the reaction of thin film niobium/selenium multilayers as a function of layer thickness. Diffraction and calorimetry data show a distinct difference in reactions between films with layer thicknesses above and below 60 A. The thicker films are shown to nucleate NbsSe4 heterogeneously at the niobium-selenium interfaces. Thinner films form kinetically stable amorphou...
