Kapok Fiber- Structure, Characteristics and Applications: A Review

Kapok fiber is a light, cottony, pale yellow to brown obtained from fruit. The characterized by large, hollow lumen and generally hydrophobic due its waxy surface. difficult spun into thread it commonly used as filling in mattresses, pillows, stuffed toys upholstery. Compared other natural fiber, kapok’s use limited application. However, now gaining attention the scientific community an important material outstanding properties. This review will provide detailed overview on structure, composition morphology of kapok fiber. It also discuss recent researches conducted including application adsorbent material, biocomposite, biotemplate, electrode others.
