Kangaroo management in the South Australian rangelands: Impacts and challenges for conservation management

چکیده
Wildlife management on a landscape scale is often complex, particularly where different land use practices occur in the same region. This so for of overabundant grazing species (both domestic and native) modified landscape, anthropogenic activities climatic drivers can influence their distribution abundance beyond sustainable levels. In Australia’s arid rangelands, macropods benefit from pastoral including improved pastures, artificial watering points removal apex predators. paper addresses some challenges associated with managing Red Kangaroo (Osphranter rufus) conservation context privately managed Boolcoomatta Station reserve South Australian rangelands. We reflect history region how activities, an unpredictable climate, have made macropod complex. Ecological monitoring at suggests that, along rainfall, by had negative impact vegetation resident avifauna chenopod plains. Fenced exclosures further demonstrate Kangaroo, perennial grasses found only was excluded. The closure waterpoints (dams) failed to reduce impacts reserve, despite evidence that persistence near fenced dams may be reduced long term. Results outcomes highlight need framework manage Kangaroo. should include consideration regional stock face climate change; improving our understanding role predators agricultural landscapes; developing setting thresholds instigate management; standardizing methods assessing impacts; lastly, mental health social well-being managers these areas.

Climate change impacts on Australian Rangelands
The recent IPCC Fourth Assessment report concluded that Australia has significant vulnerability to the changes in temperature and rainfall projected under climate change (Hennessy et al. 2007). Agriculture and natural resources were two of the key sectors identified as likely to be affected strongly. Extensive grazing is by far the most widespread agricultural land use in Australia. Most of the...
متن کاملGrand Challenges for Resilience-Based Management of Rangelands
The social and ecological contexts for rangeland management are changing rapidly, prompting a reevaluation of science, management, and their relationship. We argue that progression from steady-state management to ecosystem management has served the rangeland profession well, but that further development toward resilience-based management is required to ensure that ecosystem services are sustain...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame
this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...
