<p> </p><p class="StyleAuthorBold"><em>Abstract </em></p><p><em>The objectives of the study are: (1) to find indicators welding teaching and learning process which is appropriate characteristics ability, (2) know ideal magnitude every indicator in qualified SMAW process.The approach survey used this research combination qualitative quantitative with sequential exploratory model descriptive method. The first step applied method second technique collecting data were interview questionnaire. respondents was chosen by certain consideration.The results practice are model, students’ character, physical condition, psychological duration session, frequency. Satisfied result found when held once a week, one meeting 8 hours. (3) material delivery within 16 meetings enough be understood students. (4) mastering position ideally for 1G or 1F needs 3 meetings, 2G 2F 5 3G 3F meetings. (5) not master competency.</em></p>
