Power values of polynomials and binomial Thue–Mahler equations
Let p1, . . . , ps be distinct primes, and S the set of integers not divisible by primes different from p1, . . . , ps. We give effectively computable upper bounds for n in the equations (1) f(x) = wy, (5) F (x, z) = wy and (9) ax − by = c, where f ∈ Z[X] is a monic polynomial, F ∈ Z[X, Z] a monic binary form, the discriminants D(f), D(F ) are contained in S, and x, y, z, w, a, b, c, n are unkn...
متن کاملAlgebraic independence of functions satisfying certain Mahler type functional equations and its applications
One of the techniques used to prove the algebraic independence of numbers is Mahler’s method, which deals with the values of so-called Mahler functions satisfying a certain type of functional equation. In order to apply the method, one must confirm the algebraic independence of the Mahler functions themselves. This can be reduced, in many cases, to their linear independence modulo the rational ...
متن کاملOrthogonal stability of mixed type additive and cubic functional equations
In this paper, we consider orthogonal stability of mixed type additive and cubic functional equation of the form $$f(2x+y)+f(2x-y)-f(4x)=2f (x+y)+2f(x-y)-8f(2x) +10f(x)-2f(-x),$$ with $xbot y$, where $bot$ is orthogonality in the sense of Ratz.

متن کاملEquations for Mahler measure and isogenies
We study some functional equations between Mahler measures of genus-one curves in terms of isogenies between the curves. These equations have the potential to establish relationships between Mahler measure and especial values of L-functions. These notes are based on a talk that the author gave at the “Cuartas Jornadas de Teoría de Números”, Bilbao, 2011.
