Justice, power, and truth: Plato and twentieth-century biopower in Karl Popper and Jan Patočka

Abstract The aim of this article is to demonstrate that even if Popper’s and Patočka’s interpretations Plato originate in philosophical intellectual traditions have nothing or very little do with each other, they share a common target, is, modern biopower, which culminated twentieth-century totalitarianism. If we examine from biopolitical angle, it possible view them new light, as two different, opposing, approaches the same tragic events European culture politics experienced twentieth century. Despite radically divergent results their readings, Popper Patočka starting point, effort outline genealogy cultural history light Plato. first section explains why what extent can be considered genealogical readings. second elaborates on different relationship between justice power third concentrates biopower.
